Ze samen tellen, wat de meeste citatietellingen doen, verdoezelt precies datgene wat je wilt weten.

Publicatietype wordt genomen zoals de bron het registreert. Dat is imperfect — tijdschriften labelen inconsistent, en een artikel dat als een "review" is geïndexeerd, kan een systematische zijn — dus behandel de banden als benaderend. Ze zijn nauwkeurig genoeg om een trialliteratuur van een commentaarliteratuur te onderscheiden, wat het onderscheid is dat ertoe doet.
